![]() Barbie is a lecturer at Keene State College, where she teaches Experiential Anatomy, Composition, Ballet, and Modern Dance Technique.īarbie holds a BFA in Theatre and Dance from Millikin University and an MFA in Dance from Smith College, where she was a teaching fellow and Gretchen Moran Scholar. Her curatorial practice has brought renowned artists and scholars-Jaamil Olawale Kosoko, Katy Pyle, Raja Feather Kelly and Katie Workum, among others-to the Pioneer Valley, to engage the community in research-led practice, and embodied knowledge. ![]() From 2010 to 2014, Barbie directed New York City’s TrioDance Collective alongside Emily Jeffries and managed archival projects at New York Live Arts.īarbie’s current creative home is the School for Contemporary Dance and Thought (SCDT) in Northampton, Massachusetts, where she is the Associate Director of Programming, emphasizing racial and gender diversity, advocating for international artists, and engendering support systems for emerging New England choreographers through performance and residency opportunities. She has collaborated with a broad range of artists and improvisers including Stephanie Maher, Bronwen MacArthur, Katie Martin, Kate Seethaler, and composer and multimedia artists Trevor Gureckis and Jazer Giles. ![]() Her work has been presented in New York City (BAM, Movement Research, The Chocolate Factory, BAX, etc.), Western Massachusetts (A.P.E Gallery, the School for Contemporary Dance and Thought), and abroad at pOnderosa (Germany) and the Bogliasco Foundation Center (Italy).
